About Green River Campground

The Green River Campground is located along the banks of the Green River at an elevation of 4,750 feet (1448 m). The highly eroded Split Mountain is visible to the north. The campground is about five miles (8 km) from the famous Quarry Exhibit Hall, where you can see 149 million year old dinosaur bones still encased in the rock. A short distance from the campground is the Split Mountain Boat Ramp where river rafters come off the Green River after trips through Dinosaur National Monument's canyons.

I was in Campground #10 and had a picnic table that was relatively private behind a row of bushes. Others were more out in the open clearly visible from the roadway, almost in what I would call a 'common area'. I wouldn't have liked that so much.

A lovely, well maintained campground next to the Green River. The campground was kept picked up and clean. The highlight of Dinosaur National Park is of course the magnificent quarry building, but also enjoyable was Josie Morris's cabin and the nearby petroglyphs.

Beautiful campground on the Greene River. The campground hosts were friendly and made their presence known(appreciated). The chipmunks WILL try to steal your food! Amazing scenery of the surrounding mountains and right on the river if you need to soak your feet after a long day of hiking. The bathrooms were missing soap/paper towels all three days I was there so 1-star deduction. No cell service, but the visitors center does and it's a short drive away.

I thought it was odd there was no rangers to assist with check-in. Basically the honor system!

Great location right on the river. The stars were awesome. Dinosaur National Monument did not disappoint. The Petroglyphs and Dinosaur bone wall are a must.

This was a wonderful campground and experience. Loved being close to the water, though there isn't a bench or anything in loop A (go down to loop B near where the ranger programs are). Lots of sites have good privacy and all have great views of the mountains. Deer walked through the site and I saw a lot of birds.

I was here in mid-July with reservations for Friday and Saturday nights. I couldn't book my first site for two days so I stayed different places. But when I was here there were a lot of sites that must have had cancelled reservations. Most were available just for 1 night. So you probably have a good chance for getting a site without having a reservation.

Site 9: closest to the water but you can't see the river from the site. You can hear it a bit. Not shady. The site itself is very private, but it has a pathway down to the water that other people were using so there was surprise foot traffic. I didn't mind and was happy to share the path.

Site 14: in the open, not shady. I liked this site, it had nice views and was close to the bathroom/water. Just a quick walk down to the water.

Beautiful views from the site. Enjoyed the ranger program. Saw a snake in the campground! Kids really enjoyed our two nights here.

Drink plenty of water though, it is HOT.
