The showers are only open from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Who showers during those hours? The camp hosts were unbelievably rude and ornery.
I love Flaming Gorge and there aren’t many great options so I’ll probably stay there again but I’ll plan on bringing a camper with a shower.

I was in Site 15. Its described as a pull through. More like its the side of the road and in order to get the trailer out of the way of traffic, it sits on a ledge. You door is 4 feet from the ground. Miserable experience!

This year was our 22nd year in a row coming to Mustang Ridge to camp and to boat on Flaming Gorge. We had always loved it and it was a family tradition. Last year (2020) we came and for some strange reason the bathrooms/showers were only open from 10 am to 8 pm. When I asked the camp hosts about it they said it was due to COVID. I told them I didn't think that made sense because then you would have more people trying to use the bathrooms all at once. The previous 20 years the bathrooms had been open 24/7 other than for 30 min for cleaning. I called the Ashley National Forest service and they told me that they were not aware of this bathroom hours policy and that it was NOT due to COVID. I tried to talk to the camp hosts about it and they became combative and then they walked away and would not talk to me. These camp hosts are definitely in the wrong job because they don't like working with people and are extremely rood. Before we came camping this year I called the Ashely National Forest and they told me that the bathrooms should not be under the same restrictions as last year. However, when we came this year they were again only open from 10 am to 8 pm. These hours really don't make sense. Everyone needs to use the rest room when they first wake up, not after 10 am. Also when we are boating on the lake we are often not back to the campsite until after 8pm and they are already closed. These bathrooms have lights in them. If they are only to be open during daylight hours why are there lights in them? This year the one of the women hosts came into the women's shower to kick my daughter out at 8pm and told my daughter that those were the bathroom hours because they were old and tired. We will never come back to Mustang Ridge again until I can get confirmation from someone in charge that the bathrooms will be open 24 hours and that Kenny and the other couple will no longer be camp hosts at Mustang Ridge.

I wouldn’t have booked this campsite had I known that there were 2 dumpsters right next to it that we would be smelling for the whole trip. Also, the camp host was not accommodating with having 2 vehicles, which clearly says we can have. Others than that it was a lot of fun.

This is a great campsite, very well-maintained. Management was available and easy to find, if not at their site. It’s a hilly campground, so my younger children did not ride bikes as much as they had at previous campgrounds. Our site (62) was quite large. My only complaint is the shower building was open from 10a-8p daily—I’d prefer 8a-10p. It’s also located on the extreme east side of the gorge, so plan to drive for most activities.
Sunny Cove is a beach right around the corner. Bring a tube or paddle board and beach toys. I wish I had had water shoes since there are some big rocks hidden in the water.
Other activities we did were a day-trip to Dinosaur National Monument in Jensen (1.5-hr drive). We rafted the Green River from the dam to Little Hole. We rented through Dutch John Resort. This was our family’s favorite activity. And we rented a boat for a day. We chose to rent from Lucerne Valley Marina (1:15 drive) instead of Cedar Springs Marina (15-minute drive) because CSM does NOT allow renters to pull tubes.
Flaming Gorge is an awesome vacation destination! We stayed Sun-Fri in July 2021 and it did not seem crowded.
