What Guests Are Saying
Box Elder Campground offers well-maintained sites with a friendly atmosphere and beautiful wooded surroundings, making it a favorite for many visitors. The campground hosts are generally helpful, and the facilities, including clean bathrooms and upgraded fire pits, add to the positive experience. However, some campers noted issues with space constraints for larger groups, limited access to drinking water, and the need for improvements in some facilities, such as picnic tables and restroom supplies.

This is a great campground. We went mid-June and enjoyed the poppy field next door! Beautiful as could be. Everything was pretty nice when we arrived but the campfire ashes were just scooped out and dumped on the commonly traveled ground at the base of a tree. Very messy, so we cleaned it up. We also cleaned up the various bits of trash around the camp site. Not much, but it was there. The amazing variety of birds made the trip so magically musical. To just sit and enjoy the sound of the stream burbling in the background and listen to the birds was what we really wanted, and we loved it. The campground is primitive. The dirt there had been trampled so much that it was like a fine flour and was expected but, again, messy. We love camping here. Bugs are to be expected, as is the dirt, but that’s camping! Love it, or leave it. We love it!❤️❤️

Sites are close proximity together. Campground is easy to get to but is close to the highway, so highway traffic noise is very audible within the campground. The other road(s) that pass by the campground create a clear amount of road noise audible within the campground. Campground has clean bathrooms but soap dispensers were empty during our visit. As usual, other occupants of the campground were not considerate as to the effect their noise on the other campers in the campground.

The Lake at Mantua is close and great for kayaking and fishing. My twin grandsons caught fish off the shore. The campsite was secluded and nice. There is not a lot of parking space at this site. But all turned out great. We cooked hobo dinners in the fire pit and got wood from the camp hosts. It was a great place to go camping and spending time with family.

Loved! This! Place! Drove through the campsites a few times to scout out some good spots. We decided on one, booked it, and loved it! We made another reservation at the same spot and can't wait to go back. Our stay was quiet and peaceful with a nice welcome from the camp hosts as we were getting our trailer set up. We took several walks around the campground and as people weren't in some of the spots, we checked them out and found several with water running through them. This will definitely be one of our go too spots every year
