The Needles district in Canyonlands is beautiful! It is remote, quiet and serene. We were so glad we made it out there on our trip. We took the Slickrock hike before sunset which I highly recommend. There are some great overlooks of the canyons along the way. The hike is about 2.5 miles and is a loop is is easy to do. The campground itself was small and very quiet. It was convenient for us to stay in the park, so we were happy to do so. However, our spot wasn't the best, it was parallel to the road and was quite sloped. We had to 'nose in' our RV and use blocks to level. But, really not a big deal. Go to the Needles district, you'll love it!

For those who travel to the remote Needles District, a feast of sights abound. The trail system in this region is a blast to explore. The campground provides easy access to Elephant Hill and the trails to Chesler Park and Druid Arch, as well as the scenic drive, but be prepared for a workout and cairn guidance and route finding. Definitely worth the effort!

We stayed in the Needles Campground. It was very quiet and enjoyable. We did some of the scenic drives and a couple small hikes to fit our schedule. The cowboy camp hike was incredible. Seeing the handprints on the rock and learning the cultural importance of the spring was really moving. It was impactful to see two very different time periods of people represented in the same place. It really made history come to live. In addition, the rangers at that visitors center were all very friendly and helpful. They took time to answer our kids questions and also give recommendations and maps for the next leg of our trip as well as swear the kids in as Junior Rangers.
