Very nice campground and facilities. Friendly helpful rangers. Camped at E153, which is a drive through spot with good shade.

Best kept secret east of the Mississippi. Gorgeous, cool, sunny. This is a mountain top campground at a hiking destination park - do not expect level 'strolling trails'. Do expect pristine mountain forests with lots of well-maintained trails (including the AT), deer, black bear, impressive waterfalls and breathtaking views which will make the effort worthwhile.

We camped on the outer ring right next to the AT. Spectacular views just steps from our campsite. Campsites somewhat close but a dealbreaker. Would definitely return.

I have been camping at Loft Mtn for around 25 years. I understand when events happen but to not have working restrooms for over a week is not acceptable. Also to have no ice at camp store is crazy. When camping without amenities ice is vital. We had to go 40 min out and 40 min back to get ice. The price of showers is ridiculous also. 5.00 for 10 minutes is outrageous, you don’t even need that long. Add to that a bundle of firewood that almost certainly will not burn is crazy. Somehow the parks are taking families who may not be able to afford any other vacation out of reach. For me it doesn’t matter but I once had 4 kids at home and the only thing we could afford was camping.
I love the national parks but making money seems to be the biggest priority!

Well groomed campsites, facilities always closeby, excellent resources for handling waste and food in bear country. Park Ranger staff very responsive and helpful.

Ranger working at the check-in booth screamed at my my family and I for going 12 mph in a 10mph zone. I understand it was over the limit, but we were not flying by any means and the way he raised his voice at us and “threatened to have us arrested” was extremely u professional and disrespectful. Restrooms were closed on the first day we were there and there were no signs posted and no announcement given until three days later through an email. If there were other restrooms close by this wouldn’t have been an issue, but the wayside was also closed the entire time without explanation. The nearest bathroom was over 40 minutes away. Camp hosts were very harassing would not leave us alone.
