What Guests Are Saying
Fort Spokane is praised for its beautiful, spacious campsites, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a great spot for family camping and outdoor activities like fishing and hiking. Many visitors appreciated the quiet atmosphere and easy access to amenities such as water and boat ramps. However, some concerns were raised about noise from partying campers, availability of toilet paper, and the need for more law enforcement presence. Overall, the campground offers a pleasant experience, especially for those looking for a peaceful getaway.

The air quality was so high I didn't even go camping at Ft Spokane, I went to St Maries, ID. Wish I could have gotten my money back but knew it was a slim chance with Rec.gov

Great location and ability to reserve online and just show up was very convenient. Campground is clean and rangers make a good presence to make sure everyone feels safe. Bathroom facilities are well maintained and clean. Lot sizes are good for families and campers followed the quiet hours. Beautiful area and campground.

This site has great access to a large open field in the middle of the loop that has horse shoe pits on it. Great area for playing with the family or dog. Easy access to the toilets without being highly trafficked. Also next to the dumpsters but far away enough to not have any smell. Short walk to the river. Overall great site with a great pull through drive.

This site is ideal for seclusion and if you don't plan on leaving your site much. It is a good hike up a sandy trail to get to this site and you have to go through 2-3 other sites to get there. The only bathroom that can be easily accessed via the "walk-in" sites is on the far side of the group area and you have to walk through other sites to access it. It was a little awkward as other campers in the sites felt as though the entire area was there's. We did have a doe come right up to camp each day for a nice visit.

As family and friends, we have enjoyed the water, weather and scenic views at Fort Spokane for over 30 years. The area is wonderful for boating and swimming. The nearby services (fuel and ice) are appreciated and necessary as we tend to stay about a week. The camp host was both friendly and professional. The bathrooms were clean, and trash was picked up regularly.
However, we have observed that already developed infrastructure is slowly being removed or not being maintained. For example, a damaged dock has not been repaired for over 3 years. The flush bathrooms near the boat ramp have been closed for a couple years as well. The amphitheater we were hoping to use for a group event was filled in.
Most importantly for us, the already developed group sites have been closed to reservations for the last few years, which is problematic for a group our size. We have used these sites for over 20 years to enjoy a time of reunion as we travel from areas near and far. It is a challenge to find individual sites to reserve that are adjacent to each other for the 25 to 30 campers in our group. We would like to gather without concerns for disturbing others nearby and quite frankly, without others disturbing us with any late-night partying that has occurred after 10 PM. It is rumored that another group site may be created up in the woods, However, this does not seem to be the best use of taxpayer money since a two group sites already exist. Also, for the several senior citizens in our group the higher heat of an upland site is difficult for them to handle.
We hope that the group sites will be available for reservations again soon.

We do like the campground very much but we hate all the loud generators. It would be great to have something done about all that terrible noise.

We LOVE Ft. Spokane! We have an annual family campout there (week-long), and mostly go because we love to play on the Spokane River. You have to dry camp at this campground, but there's a water fill-up and dump station, and we have a generator that we run for AC. The bathrooms are a little rough, but they were cleaned at least a couple of times while we were there. The camp host is a rules follower, and actually gave us a lot of grace at times. Our group was big (43 one night), so we kept him busy! We were mosquito and wasp-free this year, which was a huge bonus! The kids had a great time riding their bicycles in the campground, and there's a nice little trail that follows the river. My husband loves to fish, and we had a big fish fry one evening. We have lots of wonderful memories at this place!
