About Hawk Creek Campground

Hawk Creek Campground is tucked back from the lake on Hawk Creek. The campground is popular, but small enough to feel private and secluded. A small waterfall adds ambiance to this beautiful and unique campground. Hawk Creek is close to Fort Spokane Visitor Center, but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. A courtesy dock provides access to Lake Roosevelt.

What Guests Are Saying

Hawk Creek Campground offers a picturesque setting with beautiful waterfalls, ample shade, and opportunities for kayaking and fishing, making it a great destination for nature lovers. However, some visitors experienced issues with noise from partying crowds, narrow access roads, and sanitation concerns, particularly with the restrooms. Despite these drawbacks, many guests enjoyed the peaceful environment and wildlife sightings, highlighting the campground's charm for families and outdoor enthusiasts.

There need to be more pictures shared of this campsite. Its not for everyone, but perfect for some. For example, the cover picture that shows the campsite loop with the dock and very blue water.... was nonexistent this time of year.. We booked 3 sites (Loop 1, there is only one loop, and sites 1,2,3). We assumed our 4 couples with a few kids and dogs would have plenty of space with that booking but, Nope. It was so incredibly small. The marsh side sites have very limited space.
Bring a boat load of bug spray.
There is NO running water, fyi.
The toilets are pit style, and exactly what I expected. They actually restocked the TP! but bring your own just in case.
There is a dumpster! Big perk.
The waterfall exceeded all our expectations! It was larger and the pool was way deeper than we thought. Its also crawling with crawdads!
There are lots of large cottonwood trees over the camp. It was a lot more shady than I saw in pics. There were lots of down branches from a previous storm but it was a good trade.
The morning bird life was incredible.
The closest accessible lake/creek water (2 mins. drive) was ok for day play with kayaks, paddle boards, etc. Pretty steep and muddy, but peaceful.
The camp was unexpectedly evacuated on our last day because of a close fire and we were grateful to have been in camp and have a second to pack our things and go.
Overall we had a nice time. You cant expect much when booking a last-minute labor day camp getaway.

Some excavation near the boat dock would be nice, the water dropped 6-8" overnight and we had a hell of a time pulling my boat off the rocks as it sat grounded pier side. Almost ruined the whole experience.

Camp site is very small, each site is right up each other's butt. People were loud that was next to us, no privacy. Good for day use though.

Very pretty but bathroom was gross with the 100+ degree weather and water by dock is a bit cloudy/algae. But very nice if you go out to the middle! I would come back again!
