What Guests Are Saying
Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The staff was very friendly and helped us pick out a great site. Very private sites and close to a lot in the park. Several people showed up to the advertised ranger talk, but it must have been canceled because a ranger did not show up. No soap in the bathrooms, but they were clean.

The restroom was cleanish, but it felt old and as if it only gets cleaned once a week whether it needs it or not. The campground was perfect for our little dome tent and the trees were close enough to rig up a fly for us to cook under...because it rained on us the entire time. We didn't mind, we were mostly dry all night.
It was first come, first served for spots since we camped at the beginning of October.
Highly recommend Cougar Rock when it was after school started back...can't speak to it during peak season.

Very scenic campground. Arrived on a Sunday and there were lots of first come first served sites available.

Great campground! Was grateful for the first come, first serve protocol in the fall. Josh and the rest of the camp managers were very helpful and friendly, and made our stay a pleasure. Everyone was super considerate and friendly, except for that one couple with the fussy, loud child at 12am, but, hey, can't win them all, so bring ear plugs!

Great campsites. Clean and quiet. There were no gender neutral restrooms which would have been nice.

I’ve never had a bad camping experience but our neighbors absolutely destroyed this trip for us. They decided to park in our campsite which at first isn’t a big deal I thought it was weird they waited until we walked to the bathroom to make the move. It’s that they were in and out of their car opening and closing every door multiple times like they were making sure they still worked. Then they’d start the car opening and close the doors some more and then drive away. The first time was a bit annoying mostly confusing but it’s happened several more times all after quite hours and every time they’d shine their headlights directly at our tent and wake us up. After the third time I tried to confront them but they sped away in their car when they saw me approaching. The facilities themselves were great bathrooms clean garbage picked up I wish there was a way to get one of the rangers involved with ridiculous behaviors like this late at night.
