What Guests Are Saying
La Wis Wis Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, private sites, great access to hiking trails, and the nearby Ohanapecosh River, making it ideal for nature lovers. While some guests noted issues with maintenance, lack of potable water, and crowded conditions, many appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the overall charm of the campground. The location near Mt. Rainier and the peaceful atmosphere during weekdays were also frequently highlighted as positive aspects of the experience.

Nice campground located snuggly in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, along the Cowlitz River. The campsites were spacious and very nicely shaded by the trees. The non-moveable picnic tables were great. The bathrooms are only vault toilets or port-a-potties, however they were very nicely kept up. Cell phone service was almost non existent, not a problem if you’re trying to connect with nature. You’ll love the peace and calm. Overall, a very cozy campsite that’s begs to be returned to.

We had a very unfortunate experience at this campground. Night one was great- we show up Around 6 pm ish and our reserved spot was excellent, larger than I thought too. Night two however, we return after a day of hiking to find another group of campers in our reserved site. The camp host had sold out our site while we were out for the day and refused to return it to us citing “they had more stuff than we did- it’s easier for us to pack up somewhere else” and “this happens sometimes”. As a note- We did check in with the host the first night we arrived. Since it was past 5 pm on a holiday weekend there were no other Options to reserve a campsite anywhere near the surrounding area. As we walked away another camper approached the host with the same concern- someone else was in their reserved campsite too. I Do not recommend reserving online for this Location as there is no guarantee it will be there for you as reserved.

Restrooms were closed due to Covid, but porta pottys were installed throughout the campground. Well maintained campground close to MT.Rainier NP.

We stayed in the secluded H loop and it was wonderful. The toilets were serviced with TP and were pretty decent at all times (had read bad reviews on toilets only a few weeks before my visit). The river running through the campsite is really nice, still cold in late August! Camp host was fine. They came around selling firewood at night. It was also easy to get a second car permit on the fly, which was a relief.

There is only one loop for large trailers and RVs. Many tents were set up in this loop. It should be for Large campers only. The party next to us had their tent entered and a wallet was stolen. This is not good.
