My husband and I camped at Iron Creek Campground for four nights in July 2021, with our 23 ft trailer. Our grandchildren, ages 7 and 5, joined us for two nights. We had a blast! The campground is very private, quiet and natural with giant old-growth firs everywhere. Neighboring campsites are well screened. The Cispus River is just a short walk away on a wooded trail. The river was running fast, which made it dangerous for water play. But we walked up the Cispus River's boulder-strewn beach to the mouth of Iron Creek and found that more accommodating and a popular spot.
The campground was not full during our mid-week stay and toilet facilities and grounds were exceptionally well maintained. Our grandkids and other children enjoyed scooters and bicycles around the campsite. The nearby Old Growth Trail is perfect for young children. We all enjoyed an afternoon visit to Iron Creek Falls, which is found south of the campground on Forest Road 25, just before the turn onto Forest Road 99. The waterfall is splendid, dropping maybe 100 ft into a small plunge pool.
My husband and I hiked nearby Tongue Mountain, which was an easy to moderate hike with excellent views of Rainier, Adams, and Mount St. Helens. We completed the 4 mile hike in 1.5 hours. The top is a narrow, rocky ridge that may not be suitable for children. We also enjoyed a 51-mile loop drive, starting at the campground, heading south on Forest Road 25, turning west on Forest Road 99, south on Forest Road 26 to the dead end at Windy Ridge (overlooking Mount St. Helens), and then north on Forest Road 26 to where it joins Forest Road 25 at Iron Creek Campground. This trip took us a little over 3 hours, stopping to enjoy the views of Mount St. Helens, Adams, and Rainier. The loop is an opportunity to see how the landscape around Mount St. Helens is recovering from the eruption in 1980. Warning: Forest Road 26 is paved but in terrible condition with many slumps. Forest Road 25 is only somewhat better.

Hands down favorite Campground. Peaceful, well kept and the perfect place to relax. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and now I bring mine.

Quiet campground with nice beach access (we were in 35B). We felt sheltered in the old growth forest from the summer heat. Relaxing experience.

Campground is well forested with a lot of shade. Sites are well separated from each other with trees and plants in between. There's a flat, easy 1 1/2 mile trail that goes around the entire campground, and along the Cispus River. There are a few rocky and sandy outcroppings along the river where you can sit and enjoy the river. The water was moving swiftly when we were there (July).

My family and I camp here at least once a year. It is our favorite campground. We love the trails around the sight and the surrounding areas. The campground is always kept clean as well as the bathrooms. I recommend this campground to everyone.

The restrooms were kept clean by the camp hosts and the whole campground area was beautiful - check out the falls which are up the road 3-5 miles (towards Mt. St. Helens)
Great area - we would stay again.
