Upper loop backs up to Forest Rd 90 so you will hear traffic if you take any of the sites from 39 to 33. That said, the sites are nice, plenty of shading from the tall firs, enough vault toilets to keep smells down, The Lower Falls are lovely with a nice deep hole at the base. The Lewis River trail from Lower Falls to Upper falls is nice, easy enough for these 67 year old legs. We found some lovely Lobster Mushrooms ( late September camping dates). The Lower loop is along the river and some distance from the road. Nearest ice and cell service is 20 minutes from campsite.

The campground is wonderfully quiet, well maintained, and situated beautifully on the river. I wasn't quite prepared for no running water--I guess I didn't read everything carefully enough--but the water out of the hand pump was very good, and provided a little exercise, too!

August 2023. The campground was quiet and beautiful. The sites were very spacious, allowing for multiple or very large tents. The falls were amazing, and despite the popularity of the area, it was easy to find solitude and calm. It seems to be a very family-oriented place overall, especially the upper loop, with lots of kids. Hiking was great. The Lewis River Trail was beautiful upstream and down. Lots of swimming holes!
I would advise bringing lots of drinking water. I do not know how often they test the drinking water, but it was cloudy, yellow, rusty-tasting, and very unpleasant. Only one of the very old hand pumps was working in the campground at this point.

From Portland or Seattle take I-5 to exit 21 for WA-503 E toward Woodland/Cougar. WA-503 will turn into FR 90, turn right at the Pine Creek Visitor Center. Lower Falls Campground will be on your right hand side after you pass mile marker 28 on FR 90.
Lower Falls Campground is accessible via I-5, taking exit 21 for WA-503 E. WA-503 transitions to FR 90 near the Pine Creek Visitor Center, leading directly to the campground.

- Bring your reservation confirmation to the campground.
- The campground opens in mid-May.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

- The road to the campground is rough; high clearance or 4WD vehicles are recommended.
Utilities
- No hookups are available at the campground.
- Electricity is not available, and cell phone reception is poor.
Fees & deposits
- The camping fee covers one vehicle and one towed vehicle; additional vehicles incur an $8.00/night fee.
Cancellation policy
- Failure to arrive by the next day incurs a $20 fee and forfeits the first night's fee.
Fires & fuel
- To protect forests, do not move firewood; obtain it near the campground.
