They keep the toilets clean which is nice. I'm used to roughing it. The attendant is nice and warned us about a bear in the area. Have been many times but it has been years. It wont be years before I go back. Accept for Yellowstone this is my favorite place to camp.

Amazing sites! Very spaced out. You would never know that there were so many. Camp host was very helpful and you can buy firewood there for $7 a bundle or 3 for $20. Only a short hike to lake from the campground and there is a nice trail around it. I do not recommend hiking to Spruce Knob from the campground unless you enjoy uphill on a road with cars pretty much the entire way. Worth driving there and then hiking, or driving over to any number of a few other trails close by. The hike at the "knob" is only 10 min to the scenic point and tower, but there is another really nice trail off the other side. I would HIGHLY recommend this campground!

Spruce Knob Lake has been our favorite campground for over 20 years. As tent campers we appreciate the cool climate, the relatively private and spacious sites, and the cleanliness of the toilets. Some of the best hiking trails in the Monongahela National Forest are nearby as well the relaxing lake. And given the bombardment of the digital age, we love the fact that there is no cell service! Being able to unplug is a blessing. Weβll keep coming.

Beautiful location, one of the most spacious and grand in the mid-Atlantic. Remote! Campground very well kept, clean, looked after. Great wilderness hiking in the area.
No cell phone service

Beautiful and scenic drive into the camp site. Make sure you grab ice and other amenities before heading to the campsite...very austere and at least 20 miles of windy roads before you will come across any stores. Camp host was very friendly and has bundles of wood on hand for $7 a bundle or 3 for $20. No showers. Clean restrooms. Water is available but is limited. Great site for fishing or taking a kayak out on the lake. Well maintained paved loop and easy for walking dogs in the morning. No cell service. Definitely will be back!
