What Guests Are Saying
Rex Hale campground is highly praised for its beautiful, well-maintained sites and friendly camp host, Tom, who is noted for his helpfulness and attentiveness. The campground offers a peaceful and picturesque outdoor experience, with convenient amenities such as water and electricity at some sites. While there are only vault toilets, they are clean and well-kept, and the location provides easy access to Yellowstone's east entrance.

Beautiful setting on the river. Quiet and serene. Nicely spaced sites. Bear tracks on the river bank

Rex Hale had wonderful sites. Very big and spaced apart. Close to the river, and a short 17 minute drive to the East Entrance. We had to take pretty long drives into the Yellowstone Park everyday to see everything. Two hour drive to Old Faithful for example. Next time I will stay within the park, this was overwhelming. Outside of that very well kept campground. The bear boxes barely fit a medium cooler, and it is bear country so bring a bear proof cooler. We saw a grizzly about 5 miles west of the campground.

Most beautiful and amazing smelling campsite EVER! Highly recommend site 20 for tent camping. All sites along the river have trail access to it. But it’s very silty and wouldn’t recommend wading. Super spacious and plenty of privacy. Site 22 suited us just right. A very quick and gorgeous 22 minute drive to East Gate of Yellowstone. Great base camp for exploring.

Nice space between sites. Camp host was very kind and helpful. We had a little fox that hung around the campground.

Nice and close to both the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park and Cody, Wyoming. Great views and spacious enough from other sites. Wasn't ready for the winds! Bent my aluminum tent poles but she withstood. My son's tent was blown about 50 feet with his gear in it already. This is one of the few campgrounds in the area that allow tent camping since grizzly bears are nearby. Always follow food regulations and keep safe from wildlife.

A beautiful location within the Shoshone National Forest! Our site was level, with electric and water, spaces were distant from other RVs. Full of natural surroundings, and the river was gorgeous running next to the campground. We camped with two other families. No encounters with bears but we saw a fox and prairie dogs. A perfect gateway place to explore Yellowstone, which was about a 20 min picturesque drive to the East Entrance. Dinner at the Pahaska Tepee outside of YS was perfect after spending all day in the park. Cody was approx 45 minutes. Get your provisions there before arriving. Stayed 3 nights, wished it was more.

Very cool spot just outside of Yellowstone. The massive canyon walls around this site make for fantastic views, and definitely a lot of stars visible at night! The river adjacent to the campground is beautiful, but the campground itself is pretty barren with not many trees and much more open sites.

This is a sunny campground with some electric sites and also some non-reservable sites. It is very quiet, and there is very little highway noise. If you want shade, look elsewhere, but we enjoyed our stay here. The picnic tables are in bad shape, needing new planks and paint.
