What Guests Are Saying

Dead Swede campground is highly praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and attentive camp hosts, making it one of the best camping experiences for many visitors. The beautiful location by the South Tongue River and opportunities for wildlife viewing, including moose and deer, enhance its appeal. However, some guests noted issues with site privacy and noise from nearby ATV traffic, which may detract from the experience for some campers.

If you're looking for a flushing toilet, hot shower, WIFI, cell phone coverage and electricity, go elsewhere. Amenities at Dead Swede are sparse, if you don't count the spectacular spender of the place. We explored trails and streams, we fished in the company of moose, the starry nights left us in awe and our lullaby was the serenade of coyotes. The memories will stay with us the remainder of our days ... and no ... we didn't miss those modern amenities.

The campsites along the creek are especially beautiful. All of the sites are spacious and the trees help to create some privacy between each. We have stayed here twice and it is one of our favorite places to camp. We were even visited by moose twice on our last visit! We will definitely be back.
