The only issue I have is that the showers close at 6:00 pm. Remember this is a campground that is at a lake in the summer. Very inconvenient to come off the lake early because the showers are closing. 9:00 would be more realistic and the host can clean in the morning

I was camped at Buckboard campground purely for the fishing at Flaming Gorge. With no working generator in my camper to escape the heat I wouldn't make that area my destination for casual camping.
But they DID provide free showers and most every table has a small shade structure which is better than sitting in the full all day sun, as there is also a lack of trees.

Campground was mostly as described but with some oddities. First, there were no trees in our spot despite picture showing one. We wanted to switch to a different spot, but the cap manager was nowhere to be found when we checked in. Also, shower times were not very amenable to our schedule: 9am to 6pm, not when most people actually take showers. It would be nice if they were open earlier. Also, it would have been nice to know where the camp manager was as there were several people that crashed sites (came in late and didn't pay, then left early). Others did not respect the quiet hours. This camp could be great with a little better leadership, but is currently mediocre and we will not return anytime soon.

Really no services for what you pay. Showers open late and close early. Can’t use the showers if you plan to do something during the day.

Love Buckboard and camp there a lot. However, the shower closings seem to keep getting longer. Full campground, for 4th of July weekend, full of boaters. Showers were only open from 9am - 6pm. Now think about this, how is this accommodating to boaters and a full campground? I understand there is only 1 host out there but why is this campground not staffed like Lucerne just up the road!?!?! There were a lot of campers mad and complaining. The marina is under new ownership, the forestry service campground could be at capacity all summer if you just improved it half as much as the folks at the marina have done. Also, a campground with 3 dogs running amuck without leashes and terrorizing other campsots was unacceptable. Forestry service came in and these folks had no consequences for doing so. After forestry service came out for the complaint, these folks continued to let their dogs run unleashed and poop in other campgrounds. When another camper addressed this with these folks, they shrugged their shoulders and said oh well, he has diarrhea. The other camper got a bag out and cleaned it up. This could be a 5 star campground but Forestry Service has to step their game up and do here just as is done at Lucerne.
