Scenic quiet CG along shell creek...hosts dale and loretta👍paved scenic highway 14 awesome with many mule deer, elk, pronghorn and moose sightings..two mile dirt forest road to CG was fine..no cell service if that matters to you...a bit cold so maybe later in june or july would be nicer.

Third year at Shell Creek campground. It is awesome with most sites along Shell Creek. Tall trees provide shade in the afternoons. Unfortunately, there was no water Memorial weekend 22. The camp hosts, Dale and Loretta, graciously provided us with 15 gals of their own supply. They also keep the facilities very clean. Fishing starts in late June as Shell Creek is flowing really fast due to snow melt and spring rains. We have always seen moose and deer in or around the Shell Creek campground. This year we added elk to the list. The campground is not far from Shell Falls Visitor Center and the town of Shell. There is a great cafe/store in Shell with an excellent menu.

We stayed at Shell Creek in 2020 and enjoyed the campsite so much that we stayed again this fall (2021). Unfortunately not as desirable as 2020 was. The Big Horn mountains let cattle ranchers have open range for their herds to graze, that is fine, the campgrounds are fenced off accordingly to the keep live stock out of them. This year either the fencing was down or they were breaching the campground sites through the stream bank, I do not know for sure but there was not much effort put forth in getting them (cattle) or keeping them out. Everyday your campsite had cow crap around it, around the picnic table, fire pit, parking space. Other campers had their chairs tipped over, trampled on etc. You anticipate and expect wildlife, I do not classify cattle as wildlife. Never had an issue at the other campground in the Big Horns, just Shell Creek and just this year.
Hope they figure this out, if not, bring a shovel!

Easy to maneuver with a 42’ fifth wheel. Ruth, the lady that cares for the campground, was awesome. Gave us very helpful information about the campground and the area. Bathrooms were clean and smelled good. The best we’ve seen and used in a dry campground. We were able to run our generator which helped. All around an excellent experience!

The camp host was very nice and accommodating. We had booked a site that was actually part of a double site (we didn't realize this when booking). It would have been close camping to someone we didn't know. I started to drive around looking for another site that might be open. She approached us and when I asked her if something was available, she right away suggested another site that was available. She even guided us to it and changed the paperwork to make ot happen. We were very happy and the rest of our camping experience was awesome. Caught lots of fish and enjoyed our time at camp with two of our grandkids.

The Bighorns are a neat place with lots of things to see and do. Campground was nice and clean. We never saw the host during our visit. Moose are plentiful in the area.
