What Guests Are Saying
Mammoth Campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, convenient location near Lamar Valley, and friendly hosts who maintain a clean environment. Many campers enjoyed the spacious and accessible sites, as well as the wildlife sightings, particularly elk and bison. However, some visitors noted that only one bathroom was open during their stay, leading to inconvenience, and there were occasional issues with campsite reservations. Overall, it's considered a great spot for exploring Yellowstone, especially in the off-season.

This campground worked out well for us after a long travel day to get into the entrance of the park and be ready to start our first day from within the park. Fewer amenities (ie showers) and smaller in overall size which had it feel a little less communal than some of the other campgrounds we stayed in but couldn’t beat it for the logistics of our travel and staff were all wonderful. Bathrooms were well located and clean.

Site 39 had great views and afternoon shade. The camp hosts were in the next site and super friendly. It’s possible to hike (climb) up to Mammoth from the CG. The town of Gardner is nearby, but the new road to it is not travel-trailer friendly with steep grades and hairpin turns. Be sure your trailer brakes are working.

The overall campground was well maintained and clean including the bathroom near our campsite. We were in site #67 which is not level and we were in a Sprinter which was not ideal but we made it work. We even had a bison visit our site when we were preparing dinner one evening!
