What Guests Are Saying
John F. Kennedy campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, clean facilities, and spacious campsites, making it a favorite destination for families and fishing enthusiasts. The hiking trails, particularly near Collins Creek, offer enjoyable experiences for all ages. While there are suggestions for improvements such as better internet service and more frequent trash pickup, the overall sentiment is very positive, with many campers expressing a desire to return.

ALWAYS a great stay at JFK! Unfortunately, the trout weren't biting very well, but who cares when you have a nice clean campsite by the edge of the river!!

Nice size site, plenty of room between spots. Quiet until weekend when families moved in but still not bad. Loved being next to the creek for fishing.

All in all, not a bad campground. But for us, the sites were too close together, too many people. Just not our type of campground.

Great site, with plenty of room. not too close to neighbors. one tree prevented the full extension of the awning but that wasn't a huge issue.

Excellent campground for a relaxing weekend. Went to JFK campground for the April 8, 2024 eclipse. I was surprised that even with this significant event, the people at the campground were all respectful and conscious of others enjoying nature. People were especially considerate during quiet hours. This location Is excellent for trout fishing and enjoying Greers Ferry lake. Bathrooms were clean and had a flusher instead of just a pit 👍🏼.

My favorite camp ground. Joanna was great and solved my issues.

We stayed on Loop D. If you want to be secluded a bit more, this is the spot. The showers were OK. The sinks in the men's room (and I assume the women's as well), were press faucets, so you have to hold the water on with one hand while trying to wash with the other... so inconvenient. Also, the pressure was way high on the sink so I several times got water all down the front of me. I hope they will consider changing this type of faucet out. I know it's to conserve water, but it's overkill in this case. If you have an RV with a sink, use it. Also, be sure you book a site with water (not all of the sites in any loop have water hook up). We made the mistake of not getting a site with water hookup. You will want to visit the fish hatchery and the dam. The visitor's center is worth the stop to get some of the history of the area. Also some good shopping in Heber Springs.

Great place to relax and easy access to fishing. There were so many trout that we decided to go somewhere else where they weren't so easy to catch. We caught 30 each in less than three hours. All but one fish was a rainbow.
The only negative is the way the showers are built. The bathhouses are the most inefficient design I have ever encountered. The person who designed these has obviously never been camping.
Rather than having separate partitions for the toilets and the showers, there is one door that gives you private access to the toilet, sink, and shower. If someone is using the showers you are out of luck if you need to poop. To make things worse, the showers are segregated between men and women. Given the layout, this is totally unnecessary since each shower/toilet room is 100% private and has it's own door with a lock.
Suggestion - make the shower "modules" non-gender specific. They have locks on the doors so it really doesn't need to be separate.
Regarless of the shower situation - we will definitely be back!!

Super nice campground. Heated bathrooms and plenty of hot water in the shower. Trails were good. Birding was excellent but trout fishing was iffy because of the lowering and raising of the water level. Campsite was great. Right by the water but not really accessible from the site. Heber Springs was a short drive away with everything you need. Tmobile was intermitent but ATT worked great.

All though we didn't get tv reception, the park is very nice. We have Verizon cell service and had no issues.
