What Guests Are Saying
Camp Joplin offers a relaxing and beautiful camping experience with spacious sites, convenient amenities like clean showers, and stunning views of the lake, making it a popular choice for visitors. Many campers appreciated the helpful hosts and well-maintained facilities, enhancing their stay. However, some guests reported issues with ants and noise from the sewer area, which could detract from the experience for a few. Overall, most would recommend returning to this lovely location.

Stayed in one of the developed camping spots with water/electric and an almost level pad. Nice privacy and pretty quiet, even on a Labor Day weekend. Didn't really use the bathhouse since we were in a camper but they were clean and working. This COE campground does need improvement with the other campsites that are not developed (about 1/2 of the sites) and the roads to and within the campground are rough and need to at least have the potholes filled. Just takes money...

The first site, #52, was washed away and not a camper site anyway. The second site,#20, was crooked and steep but do able with a 4 wheel drive.

We had site five and it was absolutely gorgeous. The lake access was perfect for us with our canoe. Fishing right from our site was also great. It made everything so much easier. I do wish there was more shade even one more tree towards the center of the site would have made a huge difference. Basically from noon to 6:00 p.m. the site was in full sun. I also wish we would have researched a bit more about the lake as we had no idea that it got as warm as a bathtub. We were there during the heat wave so not having any shade and not having any relief by taking a dip in the lake did make for some grumpy campers but the gorgeous view did make up for that. We didn't do any of the private mines but we did go to Crystal Vista. The hike to the top was challenging but it was an excellent adventure. We stopped at one of the first spots I wish we would have kept hiking and made it further into the park. Bring garden tools to save yourself some money, do your research. I didn't know the mining was available so we ended up spending quite a bit of money at a nearby True Value to get a few tools

Very rough campsite with little to no place for anything more than a hiker tent. But oh, how beautiful and the water was phenomenal.

Beautiful campground, and it’s quiet for the most part. The site I was on was up high, but still had access to the water, although it was difficult to go up or down the steep hill. Power was out due to a weather event from before, but it was promptly back on the same evening I arrived. The dump station is fairly easy to access and the bath house next to it was very clean, although could’ve used some ventilation cause it was very hot and humid in there.
