The loop hike around the lake is excellent. Great for a family or those who don’t want too much of a climb, but a healthy 45 minute walk around the lake. Great for trail joggers. We saw lots of chipmunks and deer. It’s a popular fishing spot and plenty of boats and kayaks to rent. We camped, the spots were well kept and each one had its own bear locker/box. Mammoth and Bishop were close enough to grab a meal and one or two more areas in the day depending on how much you wanted to push it. Can’t wait to go back.

This place is very special for my family and I. We come here to camp yearly as we make our way to Lake Tahoe. Its breathtaking. The campground staff / caretakers could be a little more friendlier but I understand they have to deal with so much so its not that big of a deal. Overall i love staying at Convict.

We really enjoyed camping at Convict Lake. The creek was an unexpected bonus. We were only there for one night so we didn't get to enjoy the lake, but did use the water fill up station.

Great campground. Saw 3 deer at dusk enjoyed the built up wall too. Was worried being so close to the bathroom but they are flushing and not an issue

The campsites at Convict Lake are very well maintained. The lead campground host, Dennis, does a fantastic job to endure that everyone's stay/experience is wonderful. We stay there every year, and love it there.

Convict Lake Campground is about 34 mi north of Bishop, California on Highway 395. From Bishop, travel north on 395. The turnoff to the campground is across from Mammoth Yosemite Airport and is well-signed. From Mammoth Lakes, travel on Highway 39...
Convict Lake Campground is about 34 mi north of Bishop, California on Highway 395. From Bishop, travel north on 395. The turnoff to the campground is across from Mammoth Yosemite Airport and is well-signed. From Mammoth Lakes, travel on Highway 395 south for 5 mi. Turn west off of Highway 395.

General
- No electricity, water or sewer site hookups
- Reservations are site-specific. Changing campsites after arrival is prohibited
- No ATVs or ORVs allowed in the facility
- Convict Lake is a no-wake lake
- Generators allowed only during non-quiet hours; three-hour maximum run time and must be attended while running
- Day use parking is adjacent to the campground
- Two dogs are allowed and must be leashed
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations; campground usually not clear of snow until late May or early June
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
