What Guests Are Saying
Convict Lake Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it an ideal spot for both short stopovers and extended stays. The campground is well-maintained, with daily bathroom cleaning and convenient amenities like firewood sales and a nearby store. However, many sites lack shade and privacy, and bear encounters can be an issue, particularly for campers with food safety concerns. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment and recreational opportunities available in this picturesque area.

One of my favorite campgrounds in the eastern Sierras! Amazing views, great fishing, and great hiking. Clean campsites and facilities. Friendly camp hosts. Easy drive to Yosemite and close to mammoth.

Clean and well maintained. Just as I remembered it from 46 years ago.

Beautiful campground, spots were spacious and private, and fishing was amazing! Stopped counting deer on day two as they were everywhere. Clean bathrooms, and the creek below the campground was a great spot to jump in and cool off!

Excellent, well cared for sites, toilets were spotless. No hook ups but no problem. We loved it.

I Love Convict Lake its's a great place to visit one of the closest Alpine lakes coming from Orange County.
last minute fishing trip for me and my two sons and I was surprised to find an available camp site #32, site did have bear
containers for food and site mentioned that it did not. I meant to bring an easy up for shade but left it behind in a rush Thursday after work, this was a big mistake! There was no escaping the heat, so we had to go find a shady spot near the resort store to rest up after fishing all day. If you plan on showering there are only two small Token operated showers, use the one with the window for ventilation
the adjacent shower is a hot box and felt like a sauna the minute I walked in and after I showered. The tokens cost $3.00 for a 3 minute
shower, I had serval tokens left over and tried to barter at the Convict Lake store for a small bag of ice for the way home but the older lady with the blonde hair may have been the manager or owner asked if I had a receipt, she through me off a bit for I had boughten a lot of goodies for our trip over a couple of days and paid cash, I never received a receipt, so I just returned the tokens and walked out
shaking my head, A no would have been easier if she would have said so. Upon my return home I emptied my pockets and noticed I had a token with me, and it said "no cash value" oops.

This was another great visit to Convict Lake, marking my second time camping here. However, the overgrown vegetation along the access areas really needs to be cut back; my truck has sustained scratches on previous visits due to the tight clearance. For this trip, I stayed at Site 5 near the campground entrance. This site has a noticeable uphill incline, which made backing in a bit challenging with a full water tank.
On the positive side, the amenities make logistics easy. You can arrive with empty tanks and fill up at either of the two water stations—one near the manager's site at the entrance and another just before the lake. There is also a convenient dump station on the way out, which is great for reducing towing weight and improving gas mileage. Please note that cell service is highly limited; on T-Mobile, I only had enough signal to send and receive texts very slowly.

Wonderful campsite with a perfect view. Lots of birds and very close proximity to the lake perfect for stand-up paddle boarding and walking around the entire convict lake. I would definitely go. I stay again especially at this particular site.
