The camp site is very nice. The trees are beautiful, lake is clean. There is some good hikes around the lake and you can ride bikes around it as well.

Forest Hill is not far if you need supplies and there are a couple good rivers and lakes about 30-60 minutes away. Still enjoy the place after 45 years.

Excellent camp site. Very private. Had a great time. There is no cell service at the camp site; however, if you take the designated trail (1 mile-ish) to the dam, you can get 1 bar of cell service if you need it. Also, the directions to the camp are sketchy. There is no road markings for Sugar Pine Road, you have to make a left at the road that shows Sugar Pine Rec Area 6 (brown forestry sign). Then drive all the way down to the 1st 3-way crossing and make a left. If you pass the OHV staging area, you went to far. The drive until you see the 2nd small brown ranger building (the first one is to sugar pine camps site) then turn right to Giant Gap camp site. I will definitely come back again.

Quiet, family focused area with water very close. We've been going for 3 years and haven't had a bad experience with obnoxious campers. Bears are present so bear-box all smellables (boxes are large and provided). There is a path around the reservoir (paved and dirt) that is mostly shaded if you're up for a 4-5 mile walk. Water was low but didn't stop my boys from swimming and kayaking. The host was friendly and made frequent patrols. Another great 4 day stay. Highly recommended for the family with youngsters or couple looking for a quiet place to enjoy.

We usually love this place! We went here last year and the camp host was wonderful. She checked us in and even told our noisy neighbors to be quiet after 10pm. This year the camp host was very inattentive, he did not even check us in! he didn't even talk to us. We also were next to a bunch of college kids that were there to party, they were so loud and obnoxious way after 10pm that we left a night early. it's too bad because this is a nice campground, the host needs to be better about enforcing quiet hours.

The lake was extremely low this drought year. Campsite was okay. Ashes need to be removed more frequently. Appreciated the availability of campfire wood for purchase. Restroom and dumpsters do get smelly on warm days!

We camp at Giant gap every memorial weekend, it’s been a while since we started our tradition, we had great experience this year, there’s a new camp host , the couple is absolutely amazing, they’re very helpful, very communicative, they do their job at A+ , we’ll come back next year

The campsite was lovely, the water is terribly low.
I was shocked to encounter a volunteer camp host who approached us with her belief that Trump is the rightful president. Almost ruined our time there, we gave her a cold shoulder and she left us alone.
I’m sure our government does not allow this behavior.
