Wow, google took us in on the northern route and that was interesting, much easier drive back through Foresthill. The campground was great, very well kept, quiet, nicely spread out campsites, and clean bathrooms. I wish the reservoir had been easier to access. The only "beaches" are a couple of day use sites, not that close to the campground. There is a nice walking trail that circumnavigates the reservoir, we did it twice. Overall a great, serene spot.

No drinking water available at the campground or anywhere near by. Closest place to buy water is 30min of rough driving each way. Reservoir is super low but still enough water for paddling. Bears and mountain lions have been seen around the campground recently but didn't cause any trouble during our trip. Could hear gunfire (maybe a shooting range) in the distance. Sites are fairly large and well kept and private. Two large groups were playing music late into the night during our stay. Overall good experience but nothing fantastic at this time of year and with the drought.

no water available impacted our camping experience, yet a full refund option was not available. the lake is small, rocky, and very muddy. the staff was kind and the park was clean.
