Haven’t been here in years though this is my favorite campground overall due to travel time on getting there. We appreciate the cleanliness of the bathrooms and water stations.

We liked the way things have been cleaned up. Lake was very nice and enjoyed the cleared hiking paths. Two minor problems was in the morning when the air was thick we occasionally got a good whiff of the pit toilets...did not go well with our bacon. It sure would be nice if the sanitation station could be fixed! Driving home with full holding tanks then having to find time to go to our local RV facility and ponying up $25 well, is a pita. Overall it's an improved experience from last year but we miss the convenience of the dump station being out of service. Still not a terrible stay. Campers were courteous and the pit toilets serviced a couple of times a day.

The bathrooms were clean but very smelly. It was the 4th of July and the campground was pretty full. Also, not having the Dump station running was very inconvenient.

We have been camping at giant gap for the past 30 years. In the last 5 to 7 years Beatles have moved in and are destroying the Pines. There was a lot of work done to clear out the affected Pines, but now most of the underbrush has been removed along with many of the larger trees. This creates a lot of wide open space. Much less shade and privacy. I think it will be great in about three years when underbrush has grown back to open for us now. We could notice how things have been spruced up though and the bathrooms don't stink half as much! What a nice surprise. Another change is that there is only a host in the campsite adjacent to Giant Gap so if something happens, like people are being obnoxiously loud at night, there's no one to come and deal with it unless you go all the way over to the other campground.

No running water and wasn't told until I got there. Too far to drive home and finally got the message when I was leaving. I w ant my money back. So sad that Noone came around to hand out water to the campers, just handed out excuses.

This is the second year in a row I’ve shown up as part of a big group to the water being off and we weren’t notified. This is so dangerous! I got an email after checkout time on our last day, even though the water had been off for our entire stay. It’s not hard to get an email out so people can be prepared.

Fun family campground! The lake water was warm and the drive up was easy. I appreciated having a site with a pull though driveway. I gave three stars because the bathrooms (vault) smelled bad the entire time and they ran out of toilet paper. Also there was no water and the campground advertises water. The sites lack privacy from your neighbors. I would go again just plan ahead with tp, wipes, and extra water. There is a great paved trail around the lake.

From Interstate 80, take the Auburn/Ravine Road exit. Continue east for 17 miles to Foresthill. Travel through town, about 9 miles, to Forest Road 10/Sugar Pine Road. Turn left and drive 9 miles, crossing a boat ramp and the dam, to the Sugar Pine Campground. Turn right and continue over a mile to the campground.
Giant Gap Campground is accessible from Interstate 80, which is approximately 17 miles to the west via Auburn/Ravine Road.

Policies & Rules
General
- *** Large single unit RVs are not suitable for the campground roads. Even though a site might have a 40 foot parking space, a 40 foot long RV can’t navigate through the campground. Also please remember that site parking length includes trailer and vehicle.***
- Water Faucets: • While safe to drink, the potable water in the campground has a high iron content and visitors may wish to bring their own drinking water. • Visitors may not connect hoses to faucets for sanitation concerns. • Faucets are meant for drinking water only. For sanitation reasons there can be no bathing or cleaning at faucets. • All grey water must be properly disposed of at the dump station. Trash: • Trash should be placed in dumpsters. If the dumpsters are full then trash must be properly stored in a bear box until the dumpster is emptied, or can be taken to the nearest dumpster. This is to avoid wildlife getting in the trash and dispersing it through the forest. • Make sure to properly close/lock dumpsters to avoid wildlife getting in the trash. Campsite: • Camp only in designated camping areas. Areas beyond the campground could have hazard trees. • Only park in designated parking spaces. Parking off of pavement in camping areas is prohibited. • No parking in or blocking road ways. • Keep food in bear boxes at all times. • If visitors need to hang things they can use rachets straps or bungees. Using screws, nails, and staples is prohibited. • Stapling into the preparation tables and/or picnic tables is prohibited due to the damage it causes. • Cutting or damaging standing trees is prohibited. • Collecting dead wood is highly encouraged. Visitors must have a wood cutting permit to cut wood on the ground. • DAY USE: • NO Swimming on or around the boat dock/ ramp. Swimmers must stay 100 feet away at all times to keep a safe distance from boat traffic. • Park in designated parking spots. No parking along painted curbs or by boat ramp. • All vehicles must pay for day use parking at the Sugar Pine Day Use Area. The $5.00 Day use parking is not included in the camping fee. Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. - This is not Sugar Pine Point State Park
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
- Off-road vehicle use is prohibited within Sugar Pine Complex, except for in the staging area, at the turnoff to Big Reservoir, such as Sugarpine OHV and Parker Flat.
