The campground is beautiful and the camp hosts keep the pit toilets really clean. Campers must secure their belongings, locking RV windows and using the provided bear lockers. There are several bears and Cubs that roam the campground day and night. Not too concerned with people but they don’t like dogs barking at them and move along quickly. Beautiful but be warned. Don’t leave food or garbage out of arms reach.

The campground hosts were vey helpful and very nice . They kept the restrooms very clean but they were really smelly due to the heat . The bear(s) were a BIG problem . We kept all our items put away inside the bear box or put away inside our RV . A bear climbed through a partially open very high up drivers seat window on a large Class A motorhome . This was on my family's neighboring site to mine . The bear pushed the window open rest of way and pushed the screen in . The bear climbed inside the motorhome and proceeded to open cabinets & refrigerator . The bear ate and made a big mess inside . Also before leaving back out the window he left a deposit inside just making the situation worse . You could clearly see dirty paw prints around the window area & other parts of motorhome . So I guess you can not leave ANY window open on any type of vehicle or RV . This is really difficult due to the heat to try and keep the temperature down inside . The bear(s) came through the campground during the day & night so you really need to watch all the time . The bear broke into the motorhome during the middle of the day so they are NOT afraid of people at all . People were having a difficult time getting the bear to leave the area once they appeared . On another note the campground sites and all roads inside the campground are dirt . So be prepared for dusty & dirty conditions while camping and when some people do not drive slowly through the campground . There are many things to do while in the Mammoth area all the way from shopping , eating and recreational activities of all different types . There are campgrounds also all over in area that are more accessible and roads & sites paved so way more clean .

Beautiful campground and loved the space between cites. Trash cans were full and difficult to throw trash away for 2 days. Would love to see showers to go in.

Tent camped 5 nights in space 60. Very nice spot -- plenty of room, fire ring but no BBQ. Cheek and jowl with space 61, which is fine unless the people in 61 have little respect for your space vs their space. Clean vault toilets and nightly visits by the local bears looking for campers who don't believe the warnings. Quick access to Mammoth Lakes makes it to easy to skip cooking and just go to town.

If you like camping to the sound of generators and off-road machines then this is the place for you! It's actually a really lovely spot, just not my vibe.

Be very bear aware, they are active here. Also ensure you read the directions for access, it is much easier going the back way from old mammoth road, disregard your gps. Location is extremely convenient.

Incredible location near Mammoth Lakes. But we had a disturbing bear encounter: one interrupted us cooking, squatted on our site, and was not easily deterred. Staff was accommodating and moved us to a less-isolated site. Campers must BE PREPARED to camp in a bear habitat. Staff and Rangers must take proactive steps against the danger.
