We had a really nice time at this Wild Plum! We stayed in site # 30, which was a quiet site, not too close and not too far from the toilets and dumpsters, and also set away from the creek. It had a bear locker, picnic table, fire ring, and three different places you might consider putting a tent. The only downside of this particular spot was the lack of shade in the very middle of the day. The campground had a good number of water spigots if you need them, but bring your own drinking water. We loved the convenience of a nice scenic trail loop connecting to the campground. The camp host was very nice, and the campground was well-tended.

We love Wild Plum Campground and have been coming to camp here for the past 4 years. There has never been a camp host since we started camping at Wild Plum until this 2024 summer so we were delighted have one on site this year. The couple that hosted were just great. They were very personable and helpful and kept the bathrooms cleaned, We had bears in camp for the first time and the hosts did all they could to help us put when bears threatened our campsites. Thank you to the wonderful camp hosts at Wild Plum for the great job they do!

Love Wild Plum. Have camped here for many, many years.
Bears were a huge problem this year. They are way too acclimated to humans.
Dumpsters and campsites were raided in the day time as well as nightly.
Bears have broken/figured out how to open the dumpsters.
So - please replace dumpsters IMMEDIATELY. Garbage strewn around the dumpsters was a big mess and attractive to many creatures.
Also - I noticed there is a new type of bear box available at one or two sites.
Please install in all campsites in ADDITION TO existing bear boxes. One bear box is not big enough to fit food & multiple ice chests that most families bring camping.

We do like the setting, but there was an aggressive bear that wandered the camp day and night eating people’s food and scaring the kids. The sites have bear bases but the bear can open them so all of our food was eaten in the middle of the day on our first day! We drove to Truckee to get new food ( local grocery stores don’t have fresh food) then we had to watch our camp all day and chase off the bear whenever it came to eat our new groceries.
The camp host was nice and let us use a bear box in a different site with a different style bear box that is harder to open, but then we had an awkward exchange with the people who showed up to camp in that spot and were shocked to find our food in their box. We then had to go to multiple sites and ask to put some of our food in other people’s bear boxes. It was very uncomfortable but we didn’t have a choice.
Also the bear opened the dumpsters each night and spread garbage all over the campground. I used to love seeing bears, but this bear was scary because it would walk right up on you in the middle of the day. I was worried that it might hurt my kids or my small dog so we were on edge the entire trip.

As a seasoned camper of 59 years at this campground (and mostly in the same camp site), it is the best place to camp (although we do not advertise this often...to keep it available for all of us who know this secret)!
This year the camp hosts, Terry and Suzanne, were exceptional from the first greeting. They informed us about the bear activity and were very helpful every time that we had a question. They even helped out when I had a flat tire in the campground:). The bathrooms were kept very clean and they were constantly watching to make sure that people did not leave unattended campfires.
Camping on the Haypress is a must as it is not only beautiful, it sings you to sleep each night (and deadens any noise from neighbors...or the bears this year - LOL)

The description is deceiving. Reserved a spot for a 20 ft trailer, but there was no place to park our car. The spot was a single spot only, this was not in the description. Tempted to park n the spot next to us but it was reserved...and never showed. Only a few spots are big enough for a camper and car, be careful with the description.... 20 feet means exactly 20 feet. Also, the bathrooms could have been better. Although cleaned every day, there were a few times where the TP ran out AND there was a group of 20 people with like 6 cars at the end of the loop. They parked in the street and we had to back up a 20 ft trailer and try to turn around. The camp host and campers did NOTHING. Not cool. Outside of this, we had a lovely site and the location is peaceful

In accordance with standard industry practices, we will be assessing a $5 additional vehicle fee on the 'second vehicle' in each single family campsite, and on the 'third and fourth vehicle' in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site.
