The campsite was perfect: (handicapped accessible, site #23)
- Painted "welcome rock" was on the picnic table
- Bathroom with flush toilets only 100 ft away.
- Water and electrical hookups.
- Fully shaded canopy over the picnic table.
- Concrete walkways around the entire camping area.
- Huge campsite, with incredible views.

Went in the spring. The flowers were blooming and the hills were all green. Very peaceful experience. Only two real hikes to take. The hike across the dam has a nice view of the Sierras. Free showers and clean bathrooms. Well maintained. Playground for kids, and it was a pleasant drive out to the lake through cattle country.

Rangers and camp hosts are friendly. The area is beautiful this time of year. Bathrooms were clean, but could a refresh.

stunning landscape, cozy spaces. Bathrooms need some updates and the hot water was not working when we were there. but we would definitely go back.

We stayed at Cordorniz Recreation Campsites. We stayed at spot 53 with full hookups. There is a 4 mile hiking trail that was really nice. The lake was near our campsite. We mostly used this site as a station while we explored the area. Some amazing backcountry roads (not paved) through to the town of Raymond. A 4WD makes driving these dirt roads fun. Stay off Avenue 26 as it is closed due to permenent construction. Take Hwy 99 and Avenue 29 for smooth trailer traveling. We camped at Codorniz Recreation Area Campground in a Travel Trailer.
Tip for Other Campers: Site 53 has TWO sewer hook ups. The one clustered with the Electricity and Water sticks out high about 10 inches which makes feeding into it via gravity difficult, if not impossible. However, there is another one hidden off to the left about 5 feet away on the ground -- probably covered by leaves. That one is a better sewer hook up for this spot....

April is a perfect time to visit Eastman Lake. Just don't visit when we are there. :<) South San Joaquin Section Royal Rangers spent two days at Wildcat Campground. The grass is green, the rattlesnakes are still in the ground, and the weather is beautiful. All three groups (Atwater, Madera Ranchos, and Mariposa) caught fish this year. The lake was FULL! Camp Staff was very helpful. We had minor problems with the bathroom and shower house...yes they have showers...and the staff took care of it right away. The facilities are older, but very clean. We spent time on the day use side of the lake and the bathrooms were just as nice. They even have showers on the day use side! Whoa! Wildcat Campground is perfect for all of our activities (Compass Course, Weather Merit, Wildlife Merit, Hiking, Archery, Council Fires, etc.). We had a WONDERFUL time and will be back in 2025. :<) Thank you for providing such an incredible campground, cjh
