What Guests Are Saying
Tannery Campground offers a beautiful setting with well-maintained facilities, clean bathrooms, and spacious campsites, making it a great spot for families and friends to create lasting memories. Guests enjoyed the scenic lake, ample shade from trees, and activities like boating. However, some reviewers noted issues with unhelpful staff, disruptive noise from other campers, and the need for better communication regarding water quality and amenities. Overall, it’s a recommended destination with some areas for improvement.

I have been going to this campground since 1967, when we found Trinity Lake. Best campground on the lake. I do have a question though. Why wasn't the boat ramp dock in the water last summer when the lake was full??

The campsites are clean, well kept, and shady with trees.

I'm a TENT camper (down with RV's!) (sorry)
Tannery Gulch is without doubt, the greatest tent camping site ever created on GGE (God's Green Earth). The sites are generally YUUUUGE. For example my preferred site has room (and actual pads) for 3 (yes, three) tents. Other sites do too. So much luxurious elbow room you'll feel like a king! Each site nestled within beautiful tall trees means SHADE galore! Yes, you can use your campsite all. day.long! Ground foliage is adequate providing decent privacy at minority of sites (you have to know which ones), majority are rather bare and exposed. If exposure doesn't bother you, don't sweat it. I like neighbors.
One large qualifier: generally, the lake is full or close to full only briefly during the season. The water is always there, but when low rather ugly look. Not a big deal to me. The water is always super warm and inviting; and, at Tannery finger, smooth as glass for water skiers. Sadly, only Whiskeytown is perpetually kept full (with Trinity's water!, so unfair!) with resultant beauty. But campgrounds at Whisky are truly pathetic, run down, rocky, crooked, and small.
I generally don't like giving away secrets, but if you're a tent camper I just dropped the Mother of All Secrets. Tannery = Heaven.
