What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting, ideally located near Grant Grove and various hiking trails, including those to the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean restrooms, fresh water, and friendly park staff, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing experience. While some sites may be uneven and restrooms are a bit distant for some, the overall atmosphere, wildlife sightings, and access to nature make it a memorable destination.

We had campsites 97 and 101 for my parents, my kids, my husband, and myself. There was a big bush/shrub that separated the campsites. I’m not saying it should be removed, but that was the only downside of our reservation. The spots were otherwise great! Being that close to the bathrooms was not ever an issue (wasn’t too noisy or smelly). We walked to the visitor center a couple times and the General Grant tree once (wouldn’t have done it with my 5-year-old if I knew it was that length of a hike). It was a nice walk/hike to the General Grant tree but too much for a little kid. Hume Lake is 20mins from the campground. Boyden Cave was about 40-45mins away, I think. Loved it!

Beautiful area and campground The only draw back is the lack of restrooms. The tent area has only one, at the top of a hill. Also the back loop doesn't have any ?? The poor campers who stay there have a LONG walk to the nearest bathroom.

campground was nearly empty although all sites were marked Reserved. We spent two nights and it was the same for both nights. Thus first come first serve were not allowed to stay even though there were plenty of empty sites. One such couple from out of state was driving around looking for a space and night fall and had no where to go.
Please select 4 or 5 spots for space available. I believe it is the right thing to do

This is a really nice campground. Most of the sites are spaced nicely and there’s lots of trees. The only drawback is the lack of bathrooms. You might have to walk pretty far depending on where your site is.

Beautiful campground. Very clean and quiet . We saw deer walking through a few times. We will definitely come back here.

Great camp site just make sure you account for yellow jackets. They swarmed during breakfast and stung my son. He was ok and we started eating inside our tent but they were everywhere during food preparation. The site had a nice mix of trees and boulders as well as close proximity to the bathrooms.

Azalea Campground had lovely campsites. We were about 1/4 mile from the bathroom, Site 48. It wasn't an issue for us because we had our pedal-assist bikes.
