Azalea Campground

Campsite was good. Not too close to neighbors, not too far from the bathrooms. Only spot to pitch the tent was sloped more than you’d probably like, but if you have a smaller tent it probably wouldn’t be an issue. We had a 6-person tent, so it was about the only place we could fit.

We stayed at site 31. It was level with a nice view from the table area a top a hill so it provided privacy in the back. Near to nice restroom. I liked staying at the top of the park for ease of travel versus the middle of the park and traffic jams.

Sites all very unlevel. Used all leveling blocks still not close to level. Otherwise site 25 would be lovely. Very friendly and helpful hosts especially with park knowledge. Never saw a ranger past gate. Had to boil water during stay.

Very nice space and clean bathrooms.

Stargazing at Panorama Point was phenomenal.

Oh my goodness was this ever a wonderful campground! So many trees. So many birds!!! Just the sound of the birds was enchanting! Nice facilities with flushing toilets, a sink, and an outdoor dish washing station. Lots of spacious sites so we could walk our dogs and get them some good exercise. We enjoyed the visitor’s center and had dinner at the restaurant which was just okay—they were very short staffed but excellent and friendly service! Since we had our two big dogs with us we drove outside the park boundaries to hike to the Boole Tree. Absolutely magnificent! Then we took the dogs down the road to Hume Lake to play on the beach. We loved that a park ranger stopped in to check on us and make sure we kept the bears safe by following the safeguards. I have never camped in a campground that has bear boxes and it was actually great because it kept our campground neat with a nice storage area! I took a solo hike (dogs not allowed) to see the General Grant tree. Oh my goodness was the path along the way GORGEOUS!!! Then what I thought was going to be a place to view a single tree turned out to be a nice little path to view multiple trees. It was great! We had just visited the Trail of 100 Giants in the Sequoia National Forest (dogs allowed there) a few days prior and I swear this spot would have satisfied my need to see the giants without going there. A treat on the way back to the campsite was coming across a family of deer. It was just so peaceful and our stay was just magical. I will never forget Azalea Campground!

The sites are right on top of each other but we were able to get a spot on the edge. We had a great experience at this campground. It was quiet and clean.

This was a nice campground. The house was pleasant and greeted us. The youngsters were well behaved and fun loving. I would warn people that our spot as well as many others are highly slanted.

Campground was amazing! Clean, mostly quiet. Great amenities - flushing toilets, running water. Sink for dishes. You can easily walk to short and long trails right from camp and it was awesome to bring our morning coffee over to see General Grant tree!
Camp host was friendly and kind. The bathrooms were in great condition. Loved it here and already can’t wait to come back!
