What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting, ideally located near Grant Grove and various hiking trails, including those to the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean restrooms, fresh water, and friendly park staff, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing experience. While some sites may be uneven and restrooms are a bit distant for some, the overall atmosphere, wildlife sightings, and access to nature make it a memorable destination.

Facilities were clean. Most camping sites have some drawback, which maybe 15 could be a concern when it rains, as mentioned by another reviewer. With that said, the bear locker was nicely shaded all day, the water spigot was a stone's throw away, and its location at the turn around made it so no one needed to walk through the site to get to the bathrooms, which were still close enough to feel comfortable letting our independent child go to on her own while still being able to keep an eye on her coming and going. Its northern boundary, where water drains when it's rainy, but not while we visited, is populated by grasses that encourage deer to get relatively close.

Great site for kids who like to roam and play. Some sites on the outer edge of the loops have very steep drop offs so beware when looking for a safe site for your littles. This campground could use a lot more restrooms. It was ok for those of us with trailers but the tent campers had to bike or drive to the restroom. With little kids this would be quite an inconvenience. There also isn't a dump station. Overall it was a great 8 night stay. We had a friendly host and the campground is in close proximity to a general store, visitor center and restaurant.

Nice campground - spots were fairly far apart. Easy walk from our site to General Grant Tree. Lots of deer! If you can, book site 57 - it’s super secluded with nice vista.
