What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting, ideally located near Grant Grove and various hiking trails, including those to the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean restrooms, fresh water, and friendly park staff, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing experience. While some sites may be uneven and restrooms are a bit distant for some, the overall atmosphere, wildlife sightings, and access to nature make it a memorable destination.

We stayed only one night but enjoyed the central location of the campground, spaced out/private sites, clean bathrooms, and overall beauty of the area. Azaleas were blooming!

The campsite had very little privacy, but good access to the bathroom. There was adequate space between campsites and some shade. The bathrooms were clean, but there was 1 sink and 2 toilets with no soap, paper towels, or hand dryer for this loop of the campground. There was a convenient ash bin and the grounds were clean. There were no mosquitoes in June. The layout of the campground was confusing with signage after the turns instead of before or next to them and deep dips and tight turns in the road.

We had an amazing time at this campsite. Several nights, a family of elk dined in the meadow behind our campsite. It is not level and we barely fit our 20-foot trailer and our tow vehicle, but it was possible to fit them both. There is a lovely ring of sequoia you can fit your tent inside.

This is a beautiful campground in a very convenient location. The sites are spacious and well-laid out. I am not giving five stars for two reasons: The number of sinks and toilets is on the low side, we often had to wait to be able to use THE sink in the men‘s/women’s bathroom. Also, soap in the bathrooms would be great. But there generally seems to be no soap in any of the bathrooms in the entire park, which is unusual for a National Park.
