What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting, ideally located near Grant Grove and various hiking trails, including those to the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean restrooms, fresh water, and friendly park staff, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing experience. While some sites may be uneven and restrooms are a bit distant for some, the overall atmosphere, wildlife sightings, and access to nature make it a memorable destination.

Awesome campground mixed in the redwoods. Extremely close to the general grant tree, multiple hiking trails, and the visitor center which was very convenient.

The camp hosts, Judy and her partner, were super friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed three nights there. Lots to do!

Loved the overall experience at Azalea as well as this specific site. Sites had large spaces between them, granting a better wilderness feel than most traditional campgrounds. There was so much space between our site and another that a large buck wandered between the campsites during the evening.

Very good site, plenty of space, slight slope and relatively open with very few trees around, so you can see all your neighbors. Still I think one of the best sites at Azalea camp. Facilities are clean, everything looks well maintained. Access to local trails and short drive to Giant Forest, makes it a perfect location!

We loved this campground overall! There was wonderful shade, the ground was soft for setting up tents, and the park is amazingly beautiful! I would love to have stayed several nights longer than the two nights we stayed. (And we loved our hikes in Kings Canyon and Sequoia! Two downsides: the site we stayed at, site #9, was a total mudpit. The drainage ditch for snowmelt drained into it, and the site was full of mud with standing water. We were able to drag the heavy picnic table to one side and set up our tent to the side of the site, but we basically had to camp around the edges and--for all practical purposes--had very little use of the site. We could not have used the fire ring. The other suggestion would be to put a hook and/or shelf in the bathroom and a simple wooden shelf by the dishwashing sink. Because you can't brush your teeth or wash dishes at the sites, it would really help with functionality to have somewhere to set things by these sinks. Other than those issues, we loved this campground and definitely hope to return someday!
