I was going to give a review of this place anyway, and then you asked me for my experience. So, since you asked.... the Army Core of Engineers should be ashamed to have their name on this campground. There is a lot of land to work with here. Seriously, not a flat spot in the park, All the sites were narrow, barely enough to fit your rig on, or so short only to be appropriate for tent camping. And everything on the side of a hill. Are you so out of touch with the way people camp today that you are clueless ???? Does no one in the C.O.E. do any camping or own an R.V. ??? We need places big enough for trailers, 5th wheels and motorhomes. They are all powered with propane, which does not work correctly and are dangerous if not pretty level. These sites are not even close. I was going to cut them some slack when I heard this was originally a county park the core took over, then I found out they came in and re-paved and just re-inforced all the stupid planning that had originally been done. You had an opportunity with heavy equipment to make this a beautiful and RV friendly park and you blew it !!! You should be embarrassed to have your name on this park. ! If you enjoy an uneven camp site and have a rig less than 20 ft, this is the place for you.

We really loved the view and the space between the sites. We don't understand the appeal of sardine camping.... Like most RV Parks. Our neighbors and even the campers not next to us were polite. I recommend this site to tent RV campers.

We stayed in site 61 which was really nice backed up to the lake and kind of by itself. The bathroom wasn’t too close so just a heads up about that.

Over all a great experience and campground. One down side is the campground is located right next to a main road so at times when there’s a loud motorcycle or car it makes it not the best “outdoor” experience. The restrooms over all were clean and hot showers which was a big plus. The flushing on the toilets isn’t the strongest so they do have signs to flush multiple times and toilet paper can get stuck. There’s multiple little stores near by(10 minute drive), and only about a 20-30 minutes drive to the entrance of sequoia national park. Just up the main road there’s a nice separate spot to park and get close to the river that leads to the lake at the campground, would highly recommend a hike there. Some people were swimming but the water was cold and at some parts the current looked strong. Will definitely return one day.

I was surprised that the majority of the campground was closed, and not available for first come first serve camping. Of the sites open, it was mostly those closest to the road and thus traffic noise. It seemed that the campground maintenance was also not as active.
We wound up deciding not stay at Horse Creek, foregoing the overnight camping fee that we already paid, to find another site up the road at the Azalea campground.

Nice camp ground. I know they are currently updating some things and working on bathrooms.
I did stay here so I could shower in the bath house rather than staying in the park, but I regretted it. The showers and bathrooms were filthy.
Staff was very nice. The views of the lake are beautiful and weather was great in mid-March. It was a nice place to walk my dogs.
I am not sure I would stay here again until the bathrooms are renovated.
