It is a walk in site. Unfortunately you do have to walk through your neighbors site the get to 55 and they are pretty close together, and it is at the end. But it’s right next to the river which is nice to hear. Or in summertime nice to soak in. I went in fall, which being that close to the river also makes it a lot colder so be aware of that. It’s close to the small store. Which does have showers, laundry and a cafe. Campground is close to tons of hiking trails and to the general sherman trails.

Open nicely spaced campsites. Close to visitors center, store, laundry and showers. Nice ranger program the night we were there.

Great campsite, with access to river views and traiheads. Driveway is not super level if you have an RV, but if you tent camp its a great spot to pitch a tent. Sound of water is soothing. Bathroom is fairly far away, but otherwise great campground.

Beautiful place and a wonderful base for exploring the park - peaceful, quiet with a stunning night sky and the option to have a barbecue. The campsite staff are very helpful. I truly recommend recommended with all my heart!

Incredible campsite with all the amenities you can dream of (for a campsite) and the best visitors center in the park. The photos do not do the sites justice, because the setting is gorgeous and even campsites bordered on all sides by others feel secluded due to the trees.

We enjoy the camping site, it has what we expected. Maybe the table is too close to the road, but the view was gorgeous. It was a blessing to wake up every morning and enjoy God´s creation.
We camped in the middle of September, and there were a lot of wasps (yellowjackets). It would be good to bring a canopy with screen walls to be set up in the dining area, which will help to keep wasps away from the food at meal times.
It could be a good idea to bring a small axe for firewood. There is a lot of wood around, it just needs to be broken down.

Lodgepole was a giant campground, with helpful checkin at the kiosk, and a diligent group of rangers/hosts to make sure things are well. I’d try to camp near the river again, for sure. We used the walk in sight so not for those w mobility issues- btw.

Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.
