What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

Sunset campground is really nice without a doubt, clean facilities, resourceful Rangers and night programs ... but the campsites could be better maintained. Choose a campsite wisely as a majority of the sites are on a slope. My family of (6) originally had campsite (079) that should fit six but only one small section was flat for a tent, not child friendly. To my surprise, as other NP Rangers would often shun this request, the Ranger provided alternate sites that we could use and we choose one that fit our situation. So kudos to the Rangers for working with us and making our stay more comfortable. Leave no trace.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever been to! The sunsets were incredible from the edge of the grounds and the ranger was super helpful. Very close to the visitor center and central to each end of SeKi. Highly recommend.

The campgrounds were beautiful, so relaxing, and fun. Everything we might have needed was conveniently close by without feeling like it was close. We were able to walk to Grants Grove easily. Our last day there we walked to the top of the campgrounds and watched the sunset. The view was really something else.
The campgrounds were clean and most had shade. The only thing negative I could say about it is that some of the sites are kinda right on top of each other. Not all of them are though.

Great location if you want to be close to Grant Grove and Kings Canyon. The visitor center is walking distance that provides great information on what activities to do near by. There is a cool cave tour that is independently managed driving into Kings Canyon called Boyden Cavern. Look for the Ranger activities such as night activities at the amphitheater that are really fun. If going on a busy weekend such as a holiday and want to go into the Giant Forest leave early to get parking. The free buses also fill up and have lines of up to an hour so plan accordingly.
