What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

This was the last camping spot on our 10day roadtrip from Iowa to Las Vegas that took us through Colorado over to Lake Tahoe down to Yosemite & Sunset campground before driving to Las Vegas. We stayed at multiple sites along the way which were beautiful but this campground was my particularly favorite one. You are in an area primarily covered by trees which I liked. Not far from major scenic attractions which helped keep us on a fairly strict schedule. We were told by the attendant at the entrance bears were sighted near by which was unsettling for the wife as we woke to tree branches cracking, fortunately it was from the weight of a deer and not a bear needless to say I couldn’t be happier with choosing this campground and will definitely be back another time!

Located right near Grant Grove and hiking distance to 2 waterfalls plus a lake; this gorgeous, well-kept, (clean bathrooms) campground was the perfect high altitude doorway to Kings Canyon with it's miles and miles of rushing waters, waterfalls and even a beautiful cave sourcing yet another waterfall out it's mouth high above Kings River!
We even had cell coverage at the waterfall we hiked to. She got a call from her Mom in the Philippines, so we went to video chat and showed her where we were standing - at the base of the falls.
Just a wonderful all-around experience to reignite our passion for the outdoors. We are now going to just "chuck it all", buy a motorhome and do the Rockies and West for a couple of years. We will be back to Sunset - it's a great central base for the area.

This was a good camping spot, sheered and pretty, and central to both halves of the park - Sequoia and Kings Canyon with the Grant Grove very nearby, It was also nice to be close to Grant Village and the camping store. The camping spot was quiet enough, even though relatively close to the road. Food storage space in the anti-bear cabinet was more than adequate and close enough to the table and campfire ring and parking spot. There is plenty of space to the neighboring campsites, and the whole campground was very scenic - and deer were sighted crossing through the campground more than once. Fellow campers were well-behaved and courteous. All the rangers we met were very helpful. It was a delightful camping vacation

Great camp site. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of tourist and tourist traffic...but aren't we all tourists. Great view over the valley up by 49 and 50.
