What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

Good site. It is a bit close to its neighbors 51 and 53. 53 especially seems to have their tent pad/setup very close to 52's picnic table/fire pit, but we had respectful neighbors. Even though parking is shared with 51, their table and tent pad are further away.
Tent site that made the most sense is a bit away and down in a dip ~30 feet from the picnic table away from the road, but mostly flat and our tent was fine.
Very close to the bathrooms and water spigot, but not right next to them thankfully (1 camp site buffer between each of them).
Shared parking with 51, might be tight if you both end up with big trucks. A Camry and midsize SUV fit fine.

Great campground in Kings Canyon National Park - location is a good middle point to explore both parks! Clean campground amenities, and just two minutes away from the Kings Canyon visitor center with a small convenience store & restaurant, you almost don't even need to bring your own food with you. I would definitely stay here again.

This campsite is beautiful. We had an amazing time. Definitely check out Grant Grove which is just 3 minutes down the rode. There is a visitor center with a small market close by as well. We definitely will be back again.

We had site 7, which had plenty of room for a large and small tent. The site is directly surrounded by several other campsites so you will not have a secluded experience. We were fortunate to have considerate neighbors. It's only a short walk to the westernmost campsites which have spectacular sunset views. Also the Sunset Trail leaves the campground in either direction from the entrance. It's about a mile of hiking to the General Grant Grove and the visitor center and store can be walked to in 5 minutes.

Wonderful campground, very clean, incredible views. While every site was marked reserved, the campground was 1/2 empty on a June weekend! Definitely worth coming out and getting a space even if it says they are all booked online.

A very typical NP campground, some sites are great, some are close together, so it depends on the luck of the draw. Site 108 is huge, however, it does have a very steep walk down from the car/parking area to the tent/bear box/table so it would not be ideal for people with mobility issues or who can't carry all their stuff a fair distance (it's a walk-in site).

Perfect base for exploring both Sequioa and Kings Canyo. Site 69 was perfect for a larger, 37' Motorhome, However, the personnel were not knowledgable about the area or about the campground. Navigating to the site was without a map or any help from the staff.
