What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

Sequoia NP itself is absolutely amazing!! The campground is functional. It’s close to the store and restaurant, but there is no walking trail to get there. Sites are really just set up for tents. Not level for small RVs like ours. There is a manned gated entrance during the day, which gives a false sense of management and security. At night, the 6 young people at the site next to ours were very loud with partying, talking and loud music… until after 1am. Another camper complained to the ranger station the next day, but nothing was done and it continued every night after their return from hiking at about 8/9 pm. We did, however, witness the spectacle of a tow truck removing one of their 3 cars from their site at about 7 am. It was a pretty loud affair, but the partiers didn’t wake from their slumber in their 3 tents on their one site. We pulled out before they woke up so didn’t get to see the rest of the show. We also camped at Stony Creek, which was quieter, but not very welcoming as the camp hosts had big signs at their campsite saying, “Beware of Dog”! Needless to say, we didn’t bother them.

Campground was excellent! It has a great location right across the street from a visitor center and market. Clean facilities and rangers came around occasionally. Site 66 was great and close to the entrance. The neighboring sites seemed to have the front part and 66 was set in the back near a cute meadow where we could see deer in the evening. There is a nice flat area for a tent and trees close together for a hammock. We can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely gorgeous backdrop, shade with trees, firepit, great proximity to visitor center, … even a skirmish with a camping neighbor(s) conflicting over areas was handled with kindness and professionally.

Arrived at my site to find it occupied. There was no ranger or anyone else in the check-in office to help me. I reserved another site. I called to get a refund on the first site and waited on hold for over an hour before giving up.

The site itself is spacious and easily accommodated our tent trailer. The reason for the only 1 star review is because the site is in solid sun… from sunrise to sunset. There is no shade and relief throughout the day. We had to leave after one full day as we could not tolerate the constant sun exposure.

Great campground in Kings Canyon National Park - location is a good middle point to explore both parks! Clean campground amenities, and just two minutes away from the Kings Canyon visitor center with a small convenience store & restaurant, you almost don't even need to bring your own food with you. I would definitely stay here again.

This campsite is beautiful. We had an amazing time. Definitely check out Grant Grove which is just 3 minutes down the rode. There is a visitor center with a small market close by as well. We definitely will be back again.
