What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

Nicely maintained camping area convenient to Grant's Village. Note that there are no showers in the camp or in the village. Be careful in choosing your site - sites on the inside curves share space, making some sites awkward wedges, while some are right on the rim and have great views.

Nice place to be! We enjoyed our time, bathrooms could’ve been cleaner but overall a good experience and I would come back. This site is conveniently located in the middle. A 45 min drive to grizzly waterfalls and 1 hour away from tunnel log/morro rock (both of these locations are in the opposite sides of each other)

Had a wonderful time visiting Kings Canyon & Sequoia with my family for the first time. Site 40 is one of the more sought after sites due to being on the west rim with the sunset each night. The only negative was that the picnic table to site 38 is literally about 6 feet from your own picnic table. A bit too close for comfort for me, but luckily we had a nice family next to us who was gone all day and went to bed early. Also, beware of the yellow jackets. They came out when we cooked breakfast and dinner and were hovering on everything. Next time I will bring a screened dining tent. Otherwise the view and sunset were great despite it being smoky from the fire up north and the stargazing was fantastic.

I was initially disappointed that the Lodgepole campground was full the nights that I needed to come. I had not camped in the park for years and did not remember much about either area. After camping at the Sunset campground and then checking out the Lodgepole area I was glad that we couldn't get in. The Sunset camp ground is a lot less busy and I suspect quieter, which I prefer. I will camp there again.
Very Happy Camper!!
