Basic campground with pit toilets. If you go around the lake a bit to the Acorn Campground, you get flush toilets and showers. There’s a troll that comes down the hill to fight with you about politics. He rides a little scooter and complains that the election was stolen. The lake is so low you need to walk about 1/4 mile to the water, but the water is full of leeches. They don’t hurt you but they’re hard to scrape off if you have a lot of them. If you walk a half mile or so, out to a point, you can get past the leeches. There are signs everywhere saying not to have a fire, but most campers ignore that and have a fire anyways because who really cares if the whole thing burns down, right? Party on! Expect a lot of commercial country and some rap, and lots of classic rock, but not good classic rock, more like Coldplay and Nickelback. I also heard a boat blaring Skrillex who most would agree isn’t music at all. The sites are all tilty. Overall great weekend! But I wouldn’t go there again.

Campground was nearly empty. We had not made a reservation but was told that we needed one through recreation.gov to stay. Later we found 3 campsites available on first come first serve basis. Staff was unfriendly and not very helpful. We were most frustrated with towing a 30 foot trailer and turning down a road that dead ended with no signage warning us of no outlet. We will not be going back.

Horrible place. Will never go back. The scenery is ugly, there is no other way to describe it, it is desert dry, the lake is crazy low, there are geese in the water and their feces is everywhere including in the water. And there are leeches in the water !!!

Campground was clean overall, but the space we rented, #48, had garbage in it when we arrived that we had to clean up, and it was sloped so things kept sliding around. I wouldn’t recommend that particular space, but would recommend the campground.
The tree next to the picnic table was full of ants, so bring ant spray with you.
Park rangers were friendly and helpful.

People were at the campsite already, had the same camp number as us. Tried to call the office no one picked up. Will never go back. What a waste of $$$ and time.

We reserved 2 campsites, one was horrible and one was awesome. They were together but one site was big enough for 5 tents, thank God. We really loved the size of the campsite and it doesn't seem like there is a certain time that you have to be quiet so there was some partying going all over at night. The problem is the bathrooms, or out houses. It doesn't seem like they are cleaned daily and they are the worst. Additionally, the water was so low because of the drought that its quite a trek to the water, and you get tangled up in seaweed if you try to swim. You have to go pretty deep to be seaweed free. It looked like different camp areas other than Oak Knoll were better.
I might try Acorn next time.
