Crane Flat was great - a short drive into the Valley and a convenient location. I'd strongly recommend checking the weather and if snow or rain is expected, get firewood in advance. The gas station across the way from Crane Flat was out of firewood when we arrived and the ground was wet, so that made for an adventurous first night.

Campsite was clean and a great location to get to the valley and northwest parts of the park such as Hetch Hetchy.

I'm new with camping so I didn't know what to expect. I brought everything just in case. I somehow managed to pick a perfect time of the year (Sept). The number of people had thinned and the trails were perfect! I was able to drive into the village and take the shuttles everywhere! The weather was GREAT! I really recommend early Sept. for the best conditions everywhere. Only disappointment was Yosemite Falls were dry but the other falls were great and well worth the hikes. From this site I was able to travel back through the mountains and down 395 to my home in San Diego. It was totally awesome and I'll be back next Sept.!

Unfortunately the whole campground fills with smoke from the campfires, the air was barely breathable, and even the visibility was poor... because of that I will avoid large campgrounds from now on
Apart from that it is a good campground

We loved the actual campground area, but our site was pretty much unusable. The angle/slant and length was all wrong for the RV. We tried every thing possible to reverse in and level but it wasn't working so we then had to park along the roadway. We actually chose the particular site due to reviews of it being quite level, but it was far from it.
We still had an amazing stay and loved the location and closeness to all the beautiful places near by.

We reserved multiple sites, I even called in to make sure they were nice sites that would accommodate all our guests. Luckily many people ended up not going, between the two sites that were next to each other we could barely fit 3 tents because they were on steep hills! My cousins ADA trailer site was flat and nice so we ended up hanging there majority of the time.
