Wanted to love this campground, but unfortunately was a little disappointed. . Site wasn't cleaned before we checked in and loop bathroom did not have water, so we didn't have a bathroom close. Other than that, it's a beautiful, quiet place to stay away from the crowds in the Valley.

Enjoyed our 5 night stay here in September. Ample room, and some so-so privacy. I’d aim for sites at the beginning of the loop (adjacent to the meadow) to avoid crowding. We had a water spicket and bathrooms with running water. This campground is about a 40 minute drive from Yosemite Village. That’s a commute for sure , but it offers much more of a “camping” experience than the 3 “pines” campgrounds in the Valley - folks are just stacked up on each other down there IMO.

Crane Flat was one of the worst camping experiences of my life. The web site touted that the campground had been newly renovated, and it was clean, but the newly graded sites were left with a fine, silt-like red clay powder which got all over everything. I normally don't have to wash my tent after a camping trip, but this time I needed to get off the red dust. It looks to me like more sites have been added to an otherwise already crowded campground. I was surrounded by 4 other sites, so close that I could hear private conversations of the other occupants, and during the night I could hear when someone rolled over in their sleeping bag!

Magnificent campsite in the middle of the forest, far from the hustle and bustle of the valley. We even had the opportunity to see a bear near the camp :)
