That was my first time at the backpackers camp.
It was a great experience, just super busy because of the holiday weekend. We took the last site when we arrived.
Very convenient for after our backpacking trip as it was too late and I was too tired to drive back home. Restrooms were very clean and people were very quiet. I really appreciated the unloading zone .

Very lovely campsite hugged between the two rivers and with a glowing view of Half Dome. So peaceful!

Amazing campsite, next to river. Close to other campsites, which is inevitable at Yosemite.

As Jim, the campground host, mentioned, North Pines Campground is a 5 star experience. Many campsites are right on the river. North Pines is likely 1/2 the size of Upper Pines so is less congested.

This site is fantastic. Large, next to the river, nicely shaded, and pretty private at the end of the loop, with a partial view of half dome and Yosemite Falls. Bathrooms are older but fine. Check in was easy. Bring bikes and take the bridge near the backpackers sites to take the trail to happy isles and up to Yosemite Village / falls!
Of course getting the reservation is the hardest part, and is a pretty bad experience, but once you’re there it’s so amazing.
