My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at Aspen Glade. Our site was on the hill and we had a beautiful view of the Conejos river below and could hear the rushing water. We had a little shade to sit under when we chose and we were far enough away from other campers to run our generator and not bother others. There was also plenty of sun if you are using solar. There are many sites down by the river that are equally beautiful and offer more shade. Anglers will appreciate fly fishing right there in the campground or traveling up a gravel road that runs along the Conejos River just a ways down the road from the campground. It is a nice trip up the road if you don't mind dust. There is a beautiful reservoir at the top of the mountain there. We will return and hope to stay longer next time. The only drawback is there is no dump station there, but I am told you can pay to dump at a private campground just down the road.

#12 campsite was advertised as a “group site with a 10 person maximum occupancy.” When we arrived, the site was small and did not have trees. The Camp Host said we would have to split our family of 10 and pay for an additional site. He was rude and did not accommodate our request to exchange spots. There were several other spaces available. He said we would have to pay for both sites in addition to what we had already paid online.
We left Aspen Glade and found Elk Creek campground down the road. It is gorgeous (has lots of space, trees and birds.) The Camp Hosts were both informative and accommodating. We will definitely return to Elk Creek.
Unfortunately, we were not able to recover the $112 dollars we paid for the nonexistent “group site” at Aspen Glade.

Excellent camping near Conejos River. Good drinking water available throughout park. Clean restrooms. Many dogs accompaning campers, ALL WERE LEASHED; previous review not applicable. Bring fly swatter/bug spray if you want to sit outside in the day.
