Bogan Flats Campground

On the upside, it's a great place to spend an overnight on your way to somewhere else north or south. It is ideally located roughly in the middle of the state. The flowing Crystal River will lull you to sleep at night. On the downside, I had to change campsites because of copious amounts of dog poop and cigarette butts left by previous uncaring campers. The overseer could do a better job of making sure the sites were left clean for the next users.

Love the area and campsite. We're planning more trips.

Great, safe place to stay!

We have stayed at this campground for many years and have always had a good time. However, two things that you should be aware of - we stayed in spot 23 across from one of the toilets. We arrived around 3 and found both toilets locked. Later towards evening we discovered only one toilet had been unlocked. Also, that evening, one of the camp hosts came by to tell us they were shutting off the water. The campground was going to be open 2 more nights so why shut off the water before closing for the season??

Great campsite! Got everything you need, next to a stream! Only problem was the neighbors were a little much the second night. They kept parking in front of our campsite and moving cars/rvs around. But everything got real quiet around 9pm. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful location.

The general location of the campground near Marble is lovely. The proximity to the road to Marble, however, is not. We stayed at the campground during peak aspen season in late September, and the traffic on the road was constant and loud (even 18 wheelers at 6:00am). Perhaps the traffic isn't as bad during other parts of the year????? I hope so. The campsites are also fairly close together with little privacy, so we heard our neighbors quite a bit. Most of the sites are along the main campground road, so we heard everyone coming and going at all hours of the day and night. Furthermore, we could occasionally smell the bathroom from our campsite. We were at site 14, which we knew was close to the bathroom, so it was a gambIe. It wasn't terrible, but every now and then we'd get a wiff; this was surprising because the bathrooms themselves were VERY clean and didn't smell when you were in them. I would consider staying at the campground again but only during a less busy time (is that possible in Colorado these days?) and only if I could get a spot right on the river to hopefully drown out some of the traffic and people noise.

Very nice campground

I chose the wrong site, and the map could not have helped. It was the last night of a long trip and the campsite was up a steep path from parking. I was too tired to haul things up, so I set up my cooking and seating behind my car and slept in the car. The campground host is marvelous. The overall campground is beautiful.
