About Bogan Flats Campground

Bogan Flats Campground stretches along the Crystal River in a valley of aspen groves, towering Ponderosa Pine, spruce, and willow. The setting is ideal for larger groups seeking recreation and relaxation in White River National Forest. Sites in the campground are widely spaced and offer a nice mixture of open and shaded spots, with several sites at the river's edge. The group site is located away from the main campground, offering a more private location.

The campground is very tidy, restrooms are clean, and the hosts are nice people. Firewood and water is available. Being right on the Crystal River you get a constant rushing of water sound, which is really delightful. My only negative feedback is that the entrance could be better signed -- coming in you'll see the campground sign and then something on the left that looks like a driveway with a mailbox, that's it.

Campground was beautiful and facilities were nice for a primitive campground. I’d rate the location a “10” if you can get a site on the creek.
Only negative was the camp hosts. Don’t let that oversized peace sign in the front yard fool you. When we approached them requesting to switch from our reserved site to an open, unreserved site closer to the water, we received a very rude response. The female host quickly let us know this was their day off and they were not dealing with us, telling us we’d have to wait until 4:00pm (it was 1:00pm) to speak with the substitute host. She read us the riot act intitially, responding without listening to our request and seemed angry that we’d have the nerve to ask them on their day off. Maybe they were having a bad day but people who are that on edge and easily rattled should probably not be camp hosts. The substitute host quickly accommodated our request and we had a nice stay. Never had to interact with the peace sign folks again in spite of being camped directly in front of them.
Bogan Flats was beautiful!

There's a lot to do and see in the area: Avalanche Ranch for soaking in the hot springs; Redstone Lodge for a great meal; Marble for seeing the marble sculptures and hiking to the falls there; hiking, swimming in the beautiful Crystal River.

So beautiful to camp along the Crystal River! Our group reserved sites 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 and they were all spacious with shade. Site 15 is the best and could easily accommodate 4 tents! Loved the bear lockers, fire ring, picnic table, and ample parking. Bathrooms were clean and water spigot nearby.
We hiked to Crystal Mills and enjoyed exploring Marble and eating at Slow Groovin BBQ.
There was some confusion about the charge for extra vehicle parking by the camp hosts in which we were told conflicting amounts. It is $7/day for a second vehicle (no discounts).

Bogan Flats was great. Love the area. The camp hosts were awful. After yelling at us for having 2 cars which I made reservations for (and had the confirmation), they threatened us with calling the sheriff. The regional manager came and all he could say is "they are new".
