About Bogan Flats Campground

Bogan Flats Campground stretches along the Crystal River in a valley of aspen groves, towering Ponderosa Pine, spruce, and willow. The setting is ideal for larger groups seeking recreation and relaxation in White River National Forest. Sites in the campground are widely spaced and offer a nice mixture of open and shaded spots, with several sites at the river's edge. The group site is located away from the main campground, offering a more private location.

Many of the campsite that are just off the paved road are on steep ground, but do have shade. The sites down by the river are level, but have no shade. Beware of camping near latrine buildings because of really bad odors. The road into the campground is narrow in places. All considered, I would look for somewhere else to camp.

Very nice spot. As a few others have noted, Site 2-17 are mostly shaded ;(ex 6) , but are higher above the river. Best river access is around site 25, where wading and some cold and shallow “swimming” are possible. Camp hosts abandoned a week or so ago, so check in and verification of sites and extra vehicle fees was a bit casual.

We loved our site as we were able to position our camper to face the Crystal river. The roads are good and sites are level with plenty of room. The camp host was present and attentive. Firewood was available. At the restroom building closest to us, one of the two restrooms was closed for repairs but the usable one was clean and never a line. We enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

Beautiful location. Sites spread out far enough not to have neighbor noise. Bathrooms didn’t smell at all.
