Very few people there, I was able to change to a better site which I appreciated. The camp host couple was great. Hard-working and responsive.

Chapman Dam Campground was an absolute joy to stay at. We were at site E32 with our dog - important to remember that all dogs must be on leash unless they are swimming in the lake. Definitely bring a long leash or rope for when you're at the campsite. The lake is small, and was definitely crowded on Saturday afternoon. However, everyone was polite, friendly, and seemed to be taking care of the area. This little lake is perfect for paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing. The camp hosts are taking very good care of the area. The pit toilets are clean, bear safe trash cans were easily found in high traffic areas, and supplies seemed to be well stocked. I would also recommend bringing a shade structure of some kind as a lot of the campsites do not have shade, even if there are trees around. Site E32 was lacking in shade after 8am until 7pm. The grounds themselves were great to just walk around, and the river running through camp offers some unique fly fishing opportunities. There is a trail to Chapman Lake that starts on the south side of the campground. We did not hike up to the alpine lake on this trip, but we will be coming back to do so. Overall, this is a very family friendly location with lots to do.

Chapman is a wonderful campground with great sites affording privacy and shade or sun depending on site. The maintenance is above average and the restrooms are exceptionally clean.
There are many nearby hiking and biking trails available including the Chapman Lake trail that is within the campground.
The Chapman Reservoir is there for fishing, kayaking and/or paddleboarding. This is an especially nice amenity for those tent camping near the reservoir. But if you need to access the area from sites further away, the day parking is quite limited and necessitates a clumsy walk carrying your gear and traipsing through the tent sites. Prior to 2021, the day use area was wide open with many parking spaces close to the reservoir but since 2021 the area was converted to tent camping making day use unpleasant and impractical. This change has made the usage of the reservoir for day users and sites further away a definite turn-off.

Wonderful setting for more rustic camping. Loved the area, plenty of hiking and spots to fly fish. Deer roam the campgrounds and just a perfect place to get away. The bathroom facilities were very clean and plenty of access points for fresh water. The Camp host, Dennis was VERY helpful and engaging, making the experience all the more enjoyable!
