Reservations were canceled due to bear activity and I am still waiting to see if I get a refund. Very disappointed.

All tents and trailers with any soft sides were forced to leave the campground due to a bear issue. Any business that had to do so would offer a free stay at a later date or alternate facility. No help was offered, When we applied for a refund, we were told we had to wait until after the end date of original reservation to do so. We did so that day. Now a week later (2 weeks after we were forced to leave), the refund request is still "pending." Doesn't seem like there should be too much question when the campground staff told us to leave.
Poorly handled.

We were unable to camp at the site we paid for because they no longer allowed soft sided camping, such as tents, at the campground (I assume because of bears). That's fine and makes sense, however, we were not told about this change to the campground until three days before we were scheduled to arrive. At this point, my party was already in the midst of our trip and could not find another site anywhere near our original campsite. In fact, we couldn't find a site at all since it was a Friday night and all the sites nearby were already booked. Further frustrating things, we were told cancel our reservation to receive a refund, however, that was impossible to do since we were already camping and had spotty, at best, cell phone reception. Overall a pretty poor showing by the forest service and recreation.gov to communicate or refund our money (which we never got). I'm sure the site is nice though. Hopefully one day we'll get to visit it.

Our family had an incredible experience at Chapman campground. It was a great view, the river was so beautiful, and we saw so much wildlife. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the campground was clean and quiet. We will definitely visit again next year!
